BeWell
A Jesus-centered ministry dedicated to mental health and recovery.

Mesa County, a county in the western slope of Colorado, has a reputation for some of the historically worst mental health statistics in the country, especially with regard to suicide data. Although those suicide rates have stabilized in the past two years, mental health remains a pressing issue for residents of Mesa County. Residents often cannot afford mental health services and face societal barriers when accessing care, with recent data revealing that nearly 20% of Mesa County residents received no medical care in the last 12 months. Spiritual care is also a serious need, with fewer than 40% of Mesa County residents reporting ANY kind of religious adherence. A creative solution was needed to address the mental and spiritual health crises in the western slope of Colorado.
We meet weekly with peers or clients to provide direct mental health and spiritual-focused services and track sessions and services for continuity of care. We also continue to have trainings to adapt and stay Jesus-centered. We provide a range of services and outpatient care to support mental health through the hope and healing found in Jesus. Whether an individual is navigating anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, addiction, trauma, or more, BeWell offers practical tools, biblical truths, and a supportive, Jesus-centered community.
We have contracted with mental health therapists and collaborated with colleges to bring graduate student mental health interns to help meet the needs in the community. We have volunteer coaches who support lower-level needs. We have connected with spiritual directors and pastors to support overall wellness. We are looking at continuing to expand through case management and health and wellness.
Services include psychoeducation, support groups, peer coaching, professional counseling, spiritual direction, and traditional faith-based practices such as prayer, EFF, SOZO, and more. Our hope is to expand soon and incorporate health and wellness through nutrition and physical fitness. We welcome and serve all individuals, regardless of faith or church affiliation, offering practical resources and compassionate care to the western slope. While primarily serving adults, counseling services are also offered to children and adolescents on a case-by-case basis.

Since launching in 2024, BeWell has grown from a small team of counselors and peer coaches into a thriving ministry bringing hope, healing, and compassionate care to people navigating life's challenges. Through more than 1,350 counseling and coaching sessions, BeWell has created opportunities for individuals to find encouragement, experience meaningful connection, and take steps toward emotional and spiritual wholeness. As the ministry continues to grow, so does its ability to walk alongside people in their most vulnerable moments, making quality mental health care more accessible and reminding people that they don't have to face life's challenges alone.
