What We've

Observed

We operate within the greater Chicago metro area, where poverty and food insecurity rates surpass national averages, with the fourth largest impoverished population in the USA.

Recent reductions in food stamp benefits have exacerbated the struggles of many families, making it increasingly difficult to meet their basic needs. In addition to the challenges faced by native-born residents, we have also witnessed a significant influx of new migrants and refugees in need of support.

Actions

We Take

We welcome anyone facing challenges in making ends meet. Through our partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository, our food pantry offers patrons the opportunity to 'shop' for groceries and essential hygiene products. Additionally, our clothing closet offers gently used clothing for individuals and families, with each piece available for just $1.

Our community resources team takes the time to sit down with individuals, getting to know them and their stories. We offer practical and confidential assistance and guidance in navigating government aid programs, ensuring that everyone receives the support they need.

Impact

We Make

Every week, we are committed to investing in the lives of our neighbors, forging relationships, and providing essential support. Beyond being a reliable source for food, clothing, and resources, we have evolved into a place where a sense of community is fostered. A testament to the impact we've had is the number of past beneficiaries who have become volunteers themselves.

In 2023, we reached a peak of serving 325 households weekly at our food pantry and distributed over 11,000 articles of clothing or bedding through our clothing closet. The momentum has only continued to grow in 2024, with a significant increase over the previous year.
