Sharing THE WAY to Restoration

We recognized the high rate of recidivism and the challenges faced by individuals re-entering society after incarceration. Many returning citizens struggle to find stable employment, housing, and support systems, which often leads to a cycle of reoffending. We understood the importance of offering them a second chance—a chance to rebuild their lives, restore relationships, and become productive members of society. By providing guidance, resources, and mentorship, we aim to break the cycle and help these individuals succeed in their journey of reintegration.
We focus on teaching practical life skills such as financial management, job hunting, continuous learning, and spirituality to equip inmates and individuals in recovery for successful reintegration into society. Many of these individuals have never had the opportunity to learn these essential skills, which are often crucial for breaking cycles of poverty, unemployment, and incarceration. By providing guidance on managing finances, navigating the job market, pursuing education, and developing a strong spiritual foundation, we empower them to build stable, fulfilling lives. These skills not only help improve their daily lives but also foster self-confidence and personal growth.
The impact of our in-prison program is challenging to measure, as many inmates relocate after their release. However, we receive very positive feedback about the course, and there is often a waiting list to attend. Additionally, we are aware of at least 10 former students who, after being released, found stable employment, reunited with their families, and became productive members of society. Several of them have gone on to own their own homes, with one becoming a highly successful business owner and another a social worker and therapist. Many individuals from recovery houses also come to HCV during their stay, get baptized, and continue to be active, positive members of our faith community. We believe that focusing on Jesus plays a crucial role in helping them stay strong in their recovery journey.
