What We've

Observed

Twenty-three years ago, we recognized a rising need in our community: families were struggling to put food on the table. We wanted a way to provide nutritious meals and ease the burden of those facing food insecurity. Three and a half years later, a doctor in our church observed that many individuals in the community were without health insurance and unable to access the medical care they desperately needed. A desire grew to ensure people could receive basic healthcare regardless of their financial situation. We desired to offer support to those who were vulnerable and underserved.

Actions

We Take

In response to the needs seen, we launched a food pantry to provide nutritious meals and ease the burden of those facing food insecurity. Shortly after the beginning of the food pantry, we established a free medical clinic, ensuring that people could receive basic healthcare regardless of their financial situation.

Impact

We Make

We are located in the fastest-growing county in the country, where significant wealth has been flowing into the community. While the dynamics of the area continue to shift, our food pantry remains a steady and vital resource. It still serves about 40 families twice a month, providing not only food but also hot meals. The food pantry has become our largest small group, with church members coming together to support these families and offer prayer.

As for our free medical clinic, we initially considered closing it due to the changes brought by Obamacare and a perceived lack of demand. However, after a brief lull of about a month and a half, we saw a noticeable increase in need -and this was before the COVID-19 pandemic. The growing demand for medical services reignited our commitment to serving the community, and the clinic has continued to be an essential resource ever since.
